Splash Damage’s class-based, parkour-inspired first-person shooter gets dated; European launch set for May 20.
Bethesda is rapidly approaching the Brink, as the publisher today confirmed that the Splash Damage-developed first-person shooter will debut in North America May 17. The Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC game’s European launch is set for May 20.
Brink takes place in the year 2035 in a floating city called The Ark following the Earth’s near-total destruction. Two warring factions, the Security and the Resistance, are going head-to-head for control of the city. After choosing sides in the fight, players will have to pick from a variety of classes (engineer, medic, and so on) and complete specific mission objectives related to those roles. The game will also place an emphasis on parkour-style movement through its dynamically changing maps, as well as character customization options.
Originally a Quake III mod team, Splash Damage gained notoriety with the 2003 release of Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. The multiplayer expansion to Return to Castle Wolfenstein focused on class-based and mission-based action, themes the developer would continue to explore with 2007’s Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, as well as Brink.
