Sackboy returns this week, accompanied by a ghost who is investigating his own murder.
Headlining the releases down under this week is Little Big Planet 2 (LBP2) for the PlayStation 3. One of the most interesting features that Media Molecule has added into the mix for LBP2 is the ability for players to now make their own minigames inside of the game. Like the original game, the focus is on user-generated content, so the tools have undergone a hefty overhaul to make them more user-friendly for beginners. User-generated content aside, the rest of the game sticks to the successful 2.5D formula set out by the first game and sees Sackboy travelling through a variety of stylised worlds. Little Big Planet 2 will be available around Australia this Thursday.
The other big game out this week is the critically acclaimed Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective for the Nintendo DS, from the creator of the Ace Attorney series–Shu Takumi. You play as Sissel, or rather Sissel’s ghost, who is trying to work out how he was murdered. Like Takumi-san’s previous games, Ghost Trick is an adventure puzzle game that adds in a quirky sense of humour. Keep an eye out for Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective when it arrives on store shelves this Thursday.
There’s also some bad news for Aussie PS3 owners this week, with EA confirming to GameSpot AU that Mass Effect 2 for the PlayStation 3 has been delayed one week due to the Queensland floods. An EA spokesperson said they expect it to be in stores on the 27th of January.
