Hulk Hogan and Sasha Grey join Saint’s Row: The Third’s voice cast (Saints Row: The Third)
Jul 20, 2011THQ’s Saint’s Row: The Third is sounding more like a cross between a muscle-bound beefcake and a porn star following news that former wrestler Hulk Hogan and former naked-person-of-note Sasha Grey will be joining the cast of voice actors. Hogan and Grey will be joining recurring cast member Daniel Dae Kim (Lost) and ought to up the ante for the kind of flashy fun the series is known for.
Dae Kim reprises his role as the now world-famous lookalike Johnny Gat, which is weird because, let’s be real here, even Daniel Dae Kim isn’t world-famous for looking like Daniel Dae Kim. Grey plays Viola DeWynter, a crime magnate characterized as “savvy, if not ruthless.”… …

Demand at “an absolute frenzy”.
Apple sold 20.34 million iPhones and 9.25 million iPads in the last three months, according the manufacturer’s Q3 earnings report.
The company’s net income rose to $7.31bn (£4.6bn) for the quarter, up 125 per cent year-on-year its best ever performance.
“We sold every iPad we could make,” said chief financial officer Peter Oppenheimer, as reported by Venturebeat.

Cupertino tech company beats forecast with $7.31 billion in profit on $28.5 billion in revenue; 20.3 million iPhones, 9.25 million iPads, 3.95 million Macs, and 7.54 million iPods sold during the quarter.
The way THQ boss Brian Farrell tells it, Apple could be a big-time player when the next generation of consoles rolls out. However, even without a presence in the console market, Apple continues to make a killing with its iOS devices.
Today, Apple reported its financial haul for the three-month period ended June 25, 2011. Beating its own estimate, the Cupertino company reported a company-best $28.5 billion in revenue during the quarter, up 82 percent over the same period last year.
Net profit for the three-month period stood at $7.31 billion, up 124 percent from the $3.25 billion Apple made during the same period a year prior. According to Apple, 62 percent of quarterly sales stemmed from international markets.
In terms of devices sold, Apple said it moved 20.34 million iPhones during the quarter, a 142 percent spike over sales during the same period last year. Additionally, Apple sold 9.25 million iPads during the quarter, which was good for an uptick of 182 percent over the same quarter last year, when the original iPad launched.
Not all sectors of Apple’s business are growing, however. The company reported that its iPod line continued to drop, selling 7.54 million iPod devices during the quarter. This marks a 20 percent unit decline from the year prior.
Looking to its fourth fiscal quarter, Apple said it is forecasting revenue of $25 billion, up from the $20.3 billion it made in Q4 2010. Investors have reacted quite favorably to Apple’s solid performance. In after-hours trading, the company’s shares were up 4.43 percent to $398.18 as of press time.

February launch for FPS sequel.
The Darkness II has been pushed back until 10th February 2012, publisher 2K Games has announced.
The comic book FPS sequel was originally meant to arrive in stores on 7th October 2011, but it seems developer Digital Extremes needs a little more time.
Its Starbreeze-developed predecessor won a very respectable 8/10 back in 2007. “Once The Darkness gets its tentacles around you, resistance is futile,” wrote Eurogamer’s Kristan Reed.

PC indie platformer hatching soon.
Acclaimed PC indie platforming series Rocketbirds is on its way to PlayStation Network, developer Ratloop Asia has announced.
Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken puts you in the shoes of a gun-toting rooster as he blasts his way through the city of Albatropolis in an attempt to dispatch Putzki, the evil leader of the Penguins.
“You’ll have to kill many penguins, solve puzzles, incite revolution, and maybe possibly pilot a few jetpacks,” producer Sian Yue Tan told the PlayStation Blog.

2K Games pushes Digital Extremes’ sci-fi FPS to next year on all platforms; game will be playable at Comic-Con 2011 this week.
It looks as if The Darkness II will stay cloaked in shadow for longer than expected. 2K Games confirmed for GameSpot today that it has pushed The Darkness II beyond its previously announced October 4 release date. The publisher now expects to release the Digital Extremes-developed title for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on February 7 in North America and February 10 internationally.
The Darkness II will pick up several years after the events of the well-regarded original, with players once again taking the role of Jackie Estacado, now the don of the Franchetti clan. While he has controlled the chaotic powers inside him since the events of the first game, a reasonless attempt on his life kick-starts a full-on mob war in New York, a perfect situation for the Darkness to reemerge.
While the original Darkness game was made by Starbreeze Studios (The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay), development for the second installment has been entrusted to Digital Extremes. The Canadian studio is perhaps best known for 2008’s third-person action game Dark Sector, but it has more recently been working on the PC port of THQ’s Homefront, as well as the multiplayer mode of 2K Marin’s BioShock 2.
Along with news of the delay, 2K Games confirmed The Darkness II’s presence at Comic-Con 2011, which descends on San Diego July 21-24. The publisher will be hosting a panel for the game on July 21 at 12:00 p.m., and it will feature voice-actor and Faith No More singer Mike Patton. Talent from franchise creator Top Cow Productions as well as Digital Extremes will also be on hand.
