Naughty Dog drops release date for upcoming adventure title; late night live demo appearance scheduled for Monday.
Earlier this week, after months of wild speculation, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception was officially announced with a broad “late 2011” release window. Now, gamers thirsting for the next Nathan Drake adventure have a date to circle on their calendars.
Tonight at the 2010 Video Game Awards, a new trailer for Drake’s Deception was shown, which ultimately revealed a release date of November 1, 2011 for the title. The game will arrive, like the two before it, exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
Details surrounding the game’s narrative remain largely murky. However, what is known is that it will focus on the relationship between Drake and his mentor Victor “Sully” Sullivan. This time around, a search for a lost city will take the wily adventurer to the Arabian Peninsula and its bleak Empty Quarter.
Drake’s Deception will also boast a number of additional features its predecessor lacked. The title will include expanded multiplayer and co-op modes, improved reverse climbing, stereoscopic 3D capability out of the box, new stealth maneuvers, the ability to engage multiple enemies in melee combat, and the power to shoot multiple enemies at once. Additionally, as an earlier rumor stated, the game will be set largely in the desert.
The game will debut alongside the first novel based on the series, Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth, but not the film based on the series. That project, directed by David O. Russell and starring Mark Wahlberg, is set to shoot next summer.
Additionally, gamers eager to see more Drake’s Deception can expect to catch a live demo of the title on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Monday, December 13. For more on the franchise’s most recent entry, check out GameSpot’s review of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Insomniac Games announces release date for third entry in the science fiction shooter series.
Resistance 2 was a big hit for Sony, winning commercial and critical success when it released in 2008. Sony and Insomniac Games are hoping to strike gold again next year, when the next entry in the series is due out.
Insomniac tonight announced via Twitter that Resistance 3 will release on September 6, 2011 exclusively on the PlayStation 3 in North America. A release date for Europe or other regions was not announced.
A third entry in the Resistance series was first hinted at in 2009, when a billboard bearing its name and logo appeared on a Baton Rouge movie set. Additionally, Insomniac is taking more time with the third Resistance title, as it will debut three years after Resistance 2. The original Resistance: Fall of Man released in 2006, followed by Resistance 2 in 2008.
Resistance 3 won’t be the only title from Insomniac Games out in 2011. In late May Insomniac announced a deal with Electronic Arts’ EA Partners program that will see an all-new Insomniac property arrive on the Xbox 360, as well as the PlayStation 3. Neither the game’s title nor a more specific release window was announced.

Following rumors, BioWare’s next game is confirmed as arriving late next year; story will involve the invasion of Earth by Reapers.
Within minutes of the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim being revealed at tonight’s VGA ceremony, another heavy hitter in the role-playing game genre was officially unveiled–albeit with a lesser element of surprise.
Following a premature reveal on Electronic Arts’ online store, Mass Effect 3 was officially unveiled via a brief trailer. “Two million dead in the first day, another 7 million by the end of the first week,” said the voiceover, which sounded much like British actor Sean Bean. On screen, a sole sniper is seen bearing down on a target–the same sniper that had been seen in leaked screenshots from developer BioWare.
“Every defense annihilated, all our forces on the run. Regrouping somewhere,” the voiceover continued, showing the sniper leaning out a shattered window.” Reports are coming in from other major cities It’s a well-coordinated attack, and so far it’s been damned effective. Don’t know what they are, what they want, or where they came from only one thing is certain–if Shepard doesn’t bring help soon, there won’t be any earth to save.”
The camera then cuts to show that the sniper is in Big Ben, the bell tower of the British Parliament. Meanwhile, across the London skyline, numerous Reapers–the sentient mechanoid spaceships which were central to the plot of the first Mass Effect, are descending, wreaking havoc.
The screen then showed that Mass Effect would have a release date of holiday 2011, right alongside the Elder Scrolls V. Though no platforms were mentioned, the EA Store leak had the game as being released for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

Following rumors, Bethesda reveals the next installment in its award-winning fantasy role-playing game series will arrive late next year; first trailer inside.
Though several titles were rumored to be revealed at tonight’s VGA ceremony, the first world premiere came completely out of left field. After a strange preamble, which saw dozens of hooded figures walk on stage in front of a mountainous background, Bethesda producer Todd Howard appeared to reveal his studio’s next game.
Later, a trailer for the game unspooled, revealing its title, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The trailer showed a wall of carvings against a voice-over that sounded eerily reminiscent of Swedish actor Max von Sydow.
“The Elder Scrolls told of their return,” said the voice-over. “Their defeat was only a delay. From the time after Oblivion opened, the sons of Skyrim would spill their own blood. But nobody wanted to believe…believe they even existed. And when the truth finally dawned, it dawned in fire.”
Simultaneously, a large gray dragon pried itself free from the wall and breathed faux fire against a lone warrior, who beat back the flames with a shield. “But the one they fear is dragon born,” the voice-over concluded, before showing the release date of the game: November 11, 2011.
The announcement comes just weeks after a report surfaced that a new Elder Scrolls was in the works, and it would be a direct sequel to the last entrant in the series, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
[UPDATED] The game’s official teaser site is now up, and the first trailer is viewable below.

The last time we played Mythos it was 2007. The release of Hellgate: London was right around the corner, and developer Flagship Studios seemed to be in great shape. Unfortunately, after a series of layoffs and debt owed by the studio formed mostly by ex-Blizzard employees, the Diablo-esque online dungeon crawler was put on hold. However, since the intellectual property rights were acquired by South Korean publisher HanbitSoft, development has resumed. With preparations for Mythos’ closed beta nearing completion, Flagship Studios is now accepting sign-ups for players who want to test-drive the game. Check out the new trailer announcing the upcoming closed beta program inside… …

Hello ArmorBlog!
Firstly, I have to apologize for being MIA for so long! It’s my last year of university so things were a little tough these past few months, but it’s alright now! I’ve just finished a new little game just in time for Christmas. This one is called Flight and you throw a paper plane across […] -
That’s great, it starts with an earthquake.
Here’s what we were picking from: Out This Week.
“It’s the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine,” sang Michael Stipe in 1987, and we all know he was singing with eerie prescience about the end of the videogame industry’s annual release cycle. The shops are still busy, the tills are ringing and Nintendo is counting its money, but anyone in search of a brand new gaming experience now has at least two long, cold months ahead of them.
Well, maybe not any more. The slow but inexorable shift towards distributing games over the internet means that it’s possible to release a game at any time of the year and the comparatively low costs have sent the volume of games made and sold through the roof.
