A demo of action horror game Dead Space 2 will release worldwide on Xbox Live on 21st December and on the European PlayStation Network on 22nd December, EA has announced.
The demo is set in the Church of Unitology part of giant space city the Scrawl. You assume control of unfortunate engineer Isaac as he kills horrible Necromorphs in what’s described as a “gruesome, unforgiving battle”.
The Church of Unitology is an expectedly “safe” place that quickly becomes dangerous and deadly during the Necromorph outbreak.

Internal sources promise imminent reveal.
The much-rumoured PlayStation Phone will launch in March next year, so say anonymous Sony sources.
According to ITProPortal’s insider, the gadget will be officially launched at Cebit 2011 in Germany – a global tech conference taking place between 1st and 5th March.
However, it’ll also apparently be shown at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February.

Kristian Segerstrale, founder of social game developer Playfish, has stressed the importance of consumer trust in Facebook games if the sector is to continue to prosper, suggesting developers need to monitor excessive player spending.

25 hours and you’re out single-player only games are “finished”, according to mega publisher EA.
The future, EA Games label president Frank Gibeau told Develop, is “connected gameplay”.
EA is “very comfortable moving the discussion towards how we make connected gameplay be it co-operative or multiplayer or online services as opposed to fire-and-forget, packaged goods only, single-player, 25-hours-and you’re out,” he said.

Millionaire City creator boasts of 4.2 million daily active users.
Social games developer Digital Chocolate claimed earlier today that it had jumped into fourth position in daily active users among Facebook game makers, according to data collated by AppData. Since then, the company jumped back one place to fifth, having been overtaken by close rival PopCap.

Former SEGA mastermind Yu Suzuki has tantalisingly teased that Shenmue 3 is much more than a fantasy – it exists.
“The concept for Shenmue 3 already exists, so…” laughed Suzuki, talking to 1UP.
“Shenmue 3 doesn’t expand outward, but inward. A lot of the dialogue is used for the main character and especially dialogue with Shenhua [the girl]. They [Shenhua and Ryo] talk about a lot of different, deeper things.

Not on PSN until February.
The PlayStation 3 version of X-Men Arcade will be released two months after the Xbox 360 version, Konami confirmed to Eurogamer this afternoon.
The XBLA version will be released in Europe and the US on 15th December – next Wednesday. The PSN version is slated for a February release. Pricing is yet to be revealed.
X-Men Arcade is a port of the classic multiplayer focused X-Men arcade game but with high definition graphics and drop-in drop-out online and local co-op.

Alice Taylor, commissioning editor for education at Channel 4, is to leave her post to set up her own company, according to The Guardian.
