Follow-up to Ghostbusters: The Videogame.
Atari and Sony plan to release a follow-up to last year’s million-selling Ghostbusters: The Videogame in the spring of next year, according to a new report.
Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is a PC, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live downloadable game in which players assume the role of the rookie from Terminal Reality’s effort, the USA Today reports.
It’s in development at Chilean studio Wanako, whose last game was arcade top-down shooter Assault Heroes 2 for Xbox Live Arcade.

Recording contract up for grabs.
Music label Atlantic Records will offer a recording contract to the winner of Def Jam Rapstar’s search for Britain’s best rapper.
To enter you need a copy of the PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 rapping game. One of its features is the ability to film your performance with a connected camera and upload videos to the official Def Jam Rapstar website. Videos uploaded to the site will be judged by other players and people drawn from social networks.
Entrants are expected to compose their own raps in Def Jam’s freestyle mode. If you make it through the first stage, you’ll be invited to perform in live regionals at HMV stores across the nation. The top 10 rappers will progress to the February final in London. Win the big one and you’ll get a single released by Atlantic. Boom.

Despite incoming VAT rise.
UK shops have promised gamers they will freeze the price of videogames despite the incoming VAT hike.
VAT will rise 2.5 per cent on 4th January, but shops have told MCV they plan to swallow the cost in order to remain competitive.
However, shops have called on publishers to help them do it they want the likes of EA, Ubisoft and 2K to sell them games at a lower price.

Chairman of Red Dead Redemption publisher discusses the digital future and the pitfall of annual releases.Strauss Zelnick, chairman of US-based publisher Take-Two Interactive, tells Reuters: "I still think in five years the packaged goods business will dominate," and that the growth of digital and mobile revenues will grow “over time”.

Kirby your Enthusiasm?
Wii-exclusive platformer Kirby’s Epic Yarn will be released in Europe on 25th February 2011, Nintendo’s announced.
It’s already out in the US.
Good-Feel’s gorgeous platformer debuted at Nintendo’s E3 2010 conference in June. It has pretty woollen, patchwork visuals and merry Disney-esque music.

Judge says he has “serious concerns about the government’s case.”The US district judge presiding over the 360 modchip trial delayed the opening statements of the case yesterday due to concerns over the actions of government witnesses.
The case accuses defendant Matthew Crippen of fitting modchips in consoles and modifying software to accommodate pirated games.

New XBLA program earns members Microsoft Points for online purchases.Microsoft has launched a new rewards initiative for Xbox Live members in the UK and the US similar to loyalty card schemes offered by retailers.
Rewards Points are awarded to users for performing certain actions. Microsoft has released a full list of criteria for earning points which include renewal of memberships, purchasing Marketplace content and using the Sky service on Xbox Live.
