Squad-based shooter from Toshihiro Nagoshi in development for HD consoles, targeted at Japanese and Western markets.
Toshihiro Nagoshi is best known for his work on the Yakuza and Super Monkey Ball franchises, but the man is distancing himself from those properties for his next body of virtual work.
Today, Sega announced Binary Domain, a squad-based action game from the mind of Nagoshi. It is set in Tokyo in the year 2080, a time when humans are locked in battle with robots. The title is described by Nagoshi as a “dramatic and energetic sci-fi shooter.” In the game, players take control of a peacekeeping team that, as it continues its fight against the robots, begins to ponder whether or not they are becoming robotic or robots are becoming human.
“When you hear sci-fi you may think of cold, clinical environments, but with Binary Domain I wanted to combine this with a deep human drama,” Nagoshi said. “The keyword we have in mind for this project is ‘Life’. I wanted to make something that will be accepted by both the Japanese and Western markets, and this fundamental theme is something everyone knows but which the full extent of can be difficult to grasp.”
Sega did not provide a release window for Binary Domain. The game’s first trailer was released today and is embedded below.

Trough week forces Namco apology.
Namco Bandai has formerly apologised for the malfunctioning Enslaved DLC – Pigsy’s Perfect 10 – on PS3.
All problems have now been resolved, the publisher said. Anyone still having problems redeeming their DLC code will be given a replacement, providing you can recall your 37-digit code received from the PS Store.
“Namco Bandai are aware that a very small amount of consumers have been having issues with their PSN purchases of Pigsy’s Perfect 10 for Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. This problem was quickly resolved last week and players are able to purchase and redeem codes as normal,” stated the publisher.

Sony yet so far.
The first video footage of what could be the PlayStation Phone has appeared on the internet.
Greek website Techblog (via Endgadget) hosted a clip (below) showing a man thumbing his way around a phone’s touch-screen interface. Airy music wafts dreamily in the background.
There’s no footage of the phone sliding open to reveal a more PSP-like shape, nor any sign of a game running. The man, presumably bored, settled for menus.
