Like Drake misses the rain.
Uncharted 3 heavily rumoured for a reveal at the Spike Video Game Awards next month is set in the desert according to Kotaku.
Although which of the world’s many deserts the game is set in is unknown, Kotaku suggests an African desert. Raiders of the Lost Ark anyone?
The rumoured setting, if correct, would follow South American jungles in Uncharted and the Himalayas in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Federal Shadow Attorney-General George Brandis says “inconsistencies” in current classification system need to be addressed.
With the next Standing Committee of Attorneys-General (SCAG) meeting set for next Friday, December 10, it seems more Australian politicians are eager to make their stance on an adult classification for games heard. Last week, Labor ACT Senator Kate Lundy delivered a speech to the Senate on the benefits of an adult classification for games. This week, the other side of politics has popped up, with the Federal Opposition’s Shadow Attorney-General George Brandis stepping up to the plate, voicing his sympathy towards the R18+ cause and his concern for Australia’s current classification laws.
“The Coalition recognises there are inconsistencies in the current classification system that need to be addressed,” Brandis told GameSpot AU. “We are looking closely at a number of proposals as to how the Australian classification system can be more effective across all types of media, including games and software.”
When asked if the Coalition would consider supporting a private member’s bill on the topic of R18+ for games, as discussed by Greens Senator Scott Ludlam last month, Brandis deferred to the Shadow Cabinet.
“The Coalition’s response to specific legislation that may be introduced into the Parliament would be a matter for the Shadow Cabinet.”
Other attorneys-general continue to remain tight-lipped about the R18+ for games issue. In February this year GameSpot AU surveyed all state and territory attorneys-general, finding that only the Australian Capital Territory’s AG was willing to admit public support for R18+; the other ministers either stated no position or declined to comment.
Federal Minister for Home Affairs Brendan O’Connor will present the R18+ for games topic to censorship ministers at SCAG next Friday. Although never stating a defined position on the issue, O’Connor did tell GameSpot AU that he is keen to make progress.

Microsoft says its motion-sensing system is on track to hit 5 million units sold by year’s end.
Hot on the heels of Nintendo’s announcement that it had sold 1.5 million units of hardware over the Black Friday/Thanksgiving weekend, Microsoft has struck back with some sales numbers of its own. Today, the software giant said that its Kinect motion-sensing system has sold 2.5 million units worldwide in its first 25 days on the market. The peripheral’s milestone comes in the wake of a reported $500 million marketing campaign to promote the device.
Today, the Microsoft said Kinect was on track to sell 5 million by year’s end, in line with the company’s previously announced target. The system went on sale in North America on November 4, with its European rollout occurring November 10 and its Japanese release following on November 20.
Currently, the Kinect system is offered as a standalone unit for $150, a hefty premium over the device’s $56 estimated cost in parts. Two bundles are also available: a $300 4GB Xbox 360 package and a $400 250GB Xbox 360 loadout. All bundles also include Kinect Adventures, just one of the 17 games that were released in November.

Nearly 12 may be let go as Ubisoft Reflections reorganizes post-Driver: San Francisco delay.
Earlier this month, Ubisoft announced that it was delaying Driver: San Francisco, the latest installment in the long-running driving-action series. Now, it appears that there have been layoffs at the studio behind the game, Ubisoft Reflections.
According to a Develop magazine report, Ubisoft has confirmed that as many as a dozen studio members may be let go as a result of a reorganization. Sources inside the studio say the number of jobs in jeopardy may be as high as 19, and that management is still mulling where to make the cuts. Ubisoft acquired Reflections in 2006 when it purchased the Driver franchise from Atari.
Driver: San Francisco will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii, and Mac sometime during Ubisoft’s next fiscal year, which begins on April 1, 2011. It will also be a throwback to previous installments in the franchise, featuring a matchup between original protagonist John Tanner and Driver 2 antagonist Charles Jericho. Plot-wise, Tanner, a hard-boiled detective behind the wheel of a 1970s-era Shelby GT500, is on the hunt for Jericho, and the two engage in vehicular duels on the streets of the titular hilly California city.
As detailed in Ubisoft’s press conference, the game will include more than 100 licensed vehicles, all of which are subject to damage. The game will also feature a supernatural element, as Tanner is apparently pursuing his mark from the confines of a coma. Tanner’s situation impacts gameplay, as players will be able to pause time to hop to a new vehicle on the fly, as well as take a bird’s-eye view of the city to jump to various locations.
