In terms of raw grunt, the PC is “easily a generation ahead” of consoles, Crysis maker Crytek believes.
But games can’t tear ahead because publishers are self-inflicting handicaps in order to satisfy the living room.
“PC is easily a generation ahead right now,” Crytek boss Cervat Yerli told Edge Magazine (via CVG). “With 360 and PS3 we believe the quality of games beyond Crysis 2 and other CryEngine developments will be pretty much limited to what their creative expression is – what the content is. You won’t be able to squeeze more juice from those rocks.

New category for Sony’s PS3 download service dedicated to localised western titles.Sony Computer Entertainment Japan launched a “Western Game Buyer Selection” category on PSN yesterday.
The new section hosts PS3 and PSP titles developed and previously released overseas, and currently offers Castle Crashers, Comet Crash and Young Thor for download at prices of ¥1,500, ¥1,000 and ¥500 respectively.

Activision and Ubisoft lead the charge in the latest software chart with EA in hot pursuit.Call Of Duty: Black Ops and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood hold the top two places in the Nordic software chart, which covers Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden in sales of combined SKUs.
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit has made a strong debut in third place, as Microsoft’s Kinect launch games move out of the top ten for the week ending November 21.

Capcom has released screenshots of the two playable characters added to the roster for the Arcade Edition of Super Street Fighter IV.
Yun and Yang, twin brothers first introduced in Street Fighter III: New Generation, are shown in their alternative costumes.
Both are themed around Chinese restaurant employees. Yun is meant to look like a chef, Yang a waiter.

New image leads to band album cover.
BioWare’s once again teased its mystery game to be revealed at the Spike Video Game Awards, this time with an image of the cover of an album by English punk rock band The Clash.
Last night BioWare posted an image on its Facebook page, which, once decoded, leads to the image you see below.

A biohazard is coming.
A new teaser video suggests a Resident Evil game will be announced at the Spike Video Game Awards next month.
An image, which you can see below, includes the biohazard symbol (Resident Evil is known as Biohazard in Japan).
Adding fuel to the Resident Evil fire, Gamerzines spotted a Resident Evil t-shirt design from official merchandise that depicts a zombie pose that matches that of the first VGA image.
