Announcement on the eve of Black Ops’ release.
On the eve of Call of Duty: Black Ops’ release EA has announced new downloadable content for rival shooter Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
VIP Map Pack 7 includes four maps, two of which are “fan favourites” Oasis and Harvest Day. It’s all free for PC and console VIP players.
The maps previously in Bad Company have been reworked for the sequel, and in the process have gained “full Destruction 2.0 (buildings collapsing and micro destruction), enhanced graphics and lighting, and remastered ambient sounds and backgrounds”.

Codemasters’ Formula 1 series will eventually feed times set by real life drivers to the player so they can compete with them in real time.
The beginnings of this will be seen in F1 2011, confirmed for release next year, Codemasters told Eurogamer.
“You’re not going to see us on the next one just add a couple more tracks and a couple more drivers because it’s the F1 2011 version,” CEO Rod Cousens promised.

WET and Naughty Bear developer changes brand identity to fit with new focus and a commitment to digital games.Canada-based developer Artificial Mind & Movement (A2M) has today announced the change of its company name to Behaviour.
A2M originally started out in the early 90s under the name Behaviour, and has since grown to around 400 employees across its offices in Montreal and Chile.

Yes, we’re smashing out four full days of Eurogamer Expo next year following the wild, orgiastic success of this year’s event – and we’re using more of Earls Court, too, so we can accommodate more than 30,000 gamers across the show.
This year we hosted more playable UK exclusives than ever, many well ahead of their release – including Kinect, Gran Turismo 5, Gears of War III, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Brink and many others. Next year we plan to have even more.

As good as any film character performance.
Andy Serkis, the actor who famously played Gollum in The Lord of the Rings films, reckons Richard Ridings’ performance as Pigsy in Enslaved is up there with any in film or theatre.
Seasoned performance capture actor Serkis played Monkey in Ninja Theory’s game, and researched the role by watching a man walk his dog on Hampstead Heath, he told The Guardian.
“We looked at the original novel, Journey into the West, and decided to take elements of that character but excuse the pun not be slavish about it,” Serkis revealed.

Following a wager by MIT alumni, Microsoft’s new hardware is hacked days after launch.Adafruit Industries, a company headed up by two MIT graduates, offered a $2,000 to anyone able to successfully create an open-source driver for Microsoft’s Kinect device.
A video of the completed task was uploaded to NUI community forums yesterday, demonstrating a successful hack of the hardware.

Where’s the cheapest place to buy Call of Duty: Black Ops tomorrow (or tonight in some cases)?
Film rental shop Blockbuster, according to MCV, where Black Ops costs just £0.99 – providing you trade in two other games including Fable III, Fallout: New Vegas or Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II.
The next lowest? By George it’s ASDA, where the game costs a fiver. In return, ASDA wants one of those games mentioned above.

The heavily rumoured Hitman 5 looks increasingly likely after a number of online CVs mentioned the game.
Two profiles on LinkedIn (spotted by PlayStation Lifestyle) mention the game one even suggests it’ll be out in 2011.
Damien Simper’s profile reveals he worked as a lead animator on Hitman 5 at IO Interactive from 2006 to 2009.
