Grasshopper Manufacture is teaming up with composer Akira Yamaoka for rhythm-action PSP title Rebuild of Evangelion Sound Impact.
Just days away from the release of the highly anticipated psychological action thriller Shadows of the Damned, Grasshopper Manufacture head Goichi Suda (Suda 51) has already revealed his next project.
According to Japanese gaming news site Andria Sang, the recently-announced Rebuild of Evangelion Sound Impact will be a PSP rhythm action title based on the famed Japanese anime and manga serial-turned-franchise Neon Genesis Evangelion. The game will allow players to play six different types of rhythm-based games, mixing music and visuals of familiar Evangelion music, with over 30 tracks in all. The game itself will be based on the Rebuild of the Evangelion film series, first released in 2007.
Rebuild of Evangelion Sound Impact is being produced by Kei Hirono from Namco Bandai, and directed by Kazutoshi Ida (Aquanauts Holiday, Kyojin no Doshin), with Suda 51 serving as creative producer. The soundtrack will be made by legendary Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka.
Rebuild of Evangelion Sound Impact is due for release on the PSP on September 29 in Japan, and will come in three editions: game only; a soundtrack edition that will include the game, plus a soundtrack and a special sleeve case; and third edition, which will include all of the above plus a t-shirt and headphones.
As reported by Andria Sang, Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has revealed screenshots from the new title, which detail some of the gameplay. Namco Bandai has also opened an official site for the new game.
