Blizzard to partner with retailer Game for official London launch on Oxford Street; Leicester Square night club to also play host to costume contest.
Blizzard has announced that it will once again host an official London launch for the upcoming release of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, allowing fans the chance to queue in the cold to bag their copy of the game. Unlike previous launches, though, which have taken place at HMV Oxford Street, this time the official party will be held just up the road, at retailer Game’s flagship store.
The third installment of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game will hit store shelves at midnight on December 7 with launches taking place around the world. In addition to the UK, France, Germany, Russia and Sweden will host midnight launches. In London, Leicester Square nightclub Sound will open its doors at 10 p.m. GMT, with a costume contest promised among other entertainment.
Blizzard will also be using the London launch to showcase official licensed merchandise, provide photo opportunities, and lay on giveaways to those who are waiting patiently in line. GameSpot UK will of course be attending the official launch, so be sure to stop by.
